Aboriginal girls in Years 11 and 12 have the chance to discover their potential and possibilities in life through the Warlugurra Walgamanyulu program. They are encouraged to aim high and if anyone wants to go on to tertiary education, we will help them get there. This is done by respecting their culture and providing them with lots of educational opportunities in and out of the classroom.
By improving attendance through modelling respect, responsibility, enthusiasm, honesty, tolerance, co-operation and politeness, the girls are encouraged to complete the senior years of school. We have lots of local indigenous guest speakers, outside school activities, workshops and excursions that make the program interesting. It is never boring.
The classroom is a warm, safe environment to learn and share. Studies include Wajarri language, English as an Additional Language or Dialect, Aboriginal and Intercultural Studies, Maths and Careers Education. Please contact the Deputy Principal on 08 9965 8400 if you would like more information.
“I found the classroom to be interactive, fun and safe. With their strong community spirit, I sensed that they had bonded as one mob.” – Eric Beheils, College Chaplain
