Our School Board
The School Board is the governance body responsible for representing the strategic direction of Geraldton Senior High School. Our board is made up of 15 members: parents (5), community members (5), and staff (5). At least one community member is of Aboriginal descent.
With the best outcome for students in mind, the board meets monthly to consider the vision and direction of the school, with members bringing ideas and lending their expertise to many topics including strategic planning and community partnerships. The School Board also oversees the Business Plan, and monitors the budget for actions that support our four priorities of:
- Success for all Students
- Quality Teaching and Leadership
- Wellbeing
- Community Partnerships
The School Board meets twice a term (weeks 5 and 9) on a Tuesday from 5.30pm – 7:00pm. The Annual General Meeting is held in May each year.

Expressions of Interest to become a Board Member
Geraldton Senior High School (GSHS) is currently seeking to fill vacant Parent Representative positions on our School Board.
The Board is pivotal in driving the success of the school. The roles and responsibilities of the Board include governance in both compliance and performance activities, the overseeing of direction setting in the key focus areas of our Business Plan, and overseeing the long term strategic approach in achieving improvement targets for the school’s future through monitoring and reviewing plans.

• What you bring to the Board
• Why you are interested in education and Geraldton Senior High School
• Your focus in wanting to progress Geraldton Senior High School
• Professional qualifications, membership of professional associations and experience in business or industry
• Personal lifestyle priorities
• Knowledge and experience with a variety of cultures including Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and non- English speaking backgrounds
Please note: An appointment to the board is conditional on having a National Police History Check processed with the Department of Education’s Screening Unit and this will be submitted within 10 working days following a request by the Principal.
